Cuplet Poetry Night has now been running successfully in Newcastle for six months, and we want to celebrate with you! Join Bonny Cassidy, Michael Farrell, Allison Gallagher, Fiona Hile and Nick Keys for a huge event, 7pm Wednesday 13 February at The Beaumont.

As usual, we ask a $10 donation so that we can pay our readers. It’s even more helpful if you’d like to sponsor a poet for $50 - email to put your hand up.

There will not be an open mic section at this event.


BONNY CASSIDY's third poetry collection, Chatelaine was shortlisted for the Prime Minister's Literary Awards and the QLD Premier's Literary Awards. She's the Reviews Editor at Cordite Poetry Review and runs the Creative Writing program at RMIT University, Melbourne.

MICHAEL FARRELL is originally from Bombala, and has lived in Melbourne since 1990. Michael's books include I Love Poetry, Cocky's Joy, and Writing Australian Unsettlement. His star sign is Libra.

ALLISON GALLAGHER is a writer and multi-disciplinary artist from Sydney. Their chapbook “Parenthetical Bodies” was released in 2017 by Subbed In. Their work has been featured in Overland, Australian Poetry Journal, Potluck Magazine and Scum Mag, among others.

FIONA HILE’s first full-length collection, Novelties, was awarded the 2014 NSW Premier’s Literary Awards Kenneth Slessor Prize for Poetry. Her second collection, Subtraction, was awarded the 2017 Helen Anne Bell Poetry Bequest for an unpublished manuscript and was highly commended in the Victorian Premiers Literary Awards 2019.

NICK KEYS is a Sydney-based writer and artist who works with sound and language to make poetry.


CLAIRE ALBRECHT is writing her PhD in Poetry at the University of Newcastle. Claire's poems appear in Cordite Poetry Review, Overland Literary Journal, Plumwood Mountain, The Suburban Review and elsewhere. Her manuscript 'sediment' was shortlisted for the 2018 Subbed In chapbook prize, and the poem 'mindfulness' won the Secret Spaces prize. Her debut chapbook 'pinky swear' launched in 2018. Claire edited the 2018 Cuplet Anthology The Clambake which you can buy at the event!
